At Life Outside, we are always looking for ways to level up our experiences in the great outdoors. From hiking to camping gear, we are constantly hunting for items that remove work and are easy to use. Throughout our quest, we have discovered 5 game-changing outdoor products that we can’t live without!

6 Outdoor Products that Will Change Your Life

#1) KT Tape

#2) Hydration Bladder

If you haven’t already discovered athletic tape, you’re going to want to invest in KT Tape. KT Tape is designed for muscle, tendon, and ligament pain relief and support. KT Tape is phenomenal to use for everything from trail running to hiking! Blister prevention is a massive concern on the trail and KT Tape is the best solution! If you feel a hot spot coming on, stop immediately and treat the area with KT Tape. The tape generally lasts 3-4 days which is perfect if you’re on a backpacking trip.

Do you usually hike with multiple water bottles and have to constantly stop for water breaks? A hydration bladder is an amazing alternative to water bottles! Hydration bladders save so much space in your pack, make hydrating on the go easy, and are convenient all around. Hydrapak make durable and reliable hydration bladders such as this 2 L reservoir. Hydration bladders are a great option for long distance running and hiking.

#3) GORE-TEX Socks

Did you know that GORE-TEX socks exist? If you’re wondering what the point of wearing waterproof socks is if you have GORE-TEX hikers, let me explain.

First, I prefer to wear trail shoes when hiking and backpacking. I find that trail shoes are lighter and more comfortable than hiking boots. I prefer to buy non GORE-TEX trail shoes and hiking boots because they are significantly more breathable and dry faster. When water gets inside of a GORE-TEX shoe or boot, it’s game over. Wet shoes and socks can create blisters and cold feet which can get dangerous.

GORE-TEX socks are the way to go because you can guarantee that your feet won’t get wet and you have the option of putting them on at your convenience. In my eyes, GORE-TEX socks are the better option because of this flexibility.

#4) Leatherman Surge

A multi-tool should be on everyone’s gear list, but most specifically, the Leatherman Surge multi-tool is my top pick! The Surge is packed with 21 tools in 1 making it an extremely convenient item for just about every adventure. From a saw to a can opener, the Surge is equipped with all of your outdoor needs without the stress of having to pack all of these items.

#5) Therm-a-Rest Z Seat

Weighing in at 2 oz, the Therm-a-Rest Z Seat quickly became a necessity on all of my adventures! I love the Z Seat because it turns any hard surface into a comfortable chair. It may not sound like a big deal, but when you are out hiking all day, it’s so nice to have a comfortable place to sit down and relax.

  1. I did not know there was Gore-Tex socks, Hailey. That’s amazing. A great idea about non Gore-Tex trail shoes and Gore-Tex socks. In hot weather I learned the hard way and did get serious blisters with Gore-Tex shoes.Only use them for winter runs now. Thank you, Hailey.

That KT tape I used at Bad Beaver Ultra where you and Tyan were the amazing photographers. I did bring it for muscle and tendons, but learned at the event it is also great for blister hot spots.

Thank you for sharing! Hope you guys are well! 🙂
