When we watched the documentary, Meru, back in 2015 we thought there was no way that any sports documentary could ever compete against the brilliant, seat clenching film. World-renowned photographer, Jimmy Chin, and filmmaker, E. Chai Vasarhelyi did an incredible job bringing us all up there with them to climb Meru; rightfully so, their incredible efforts turned into an award winning documentary.
Flash forward three years later, Jimmy Chin and E. Chai Vasarhelyi are at it again, only this time they will be bringing us up 3200 ft on the face of El Capitan, with Free Soloist Alex Honnold, anyone who knows anything about climbing knows why this is a big deal.
Free Solo captures the historic success story of Honnold pursuing his dream to take on a rope-less ascent up Yosemite National Park’s most iconic mountain.
“It’s hard to not imagine your friend falling through the frame to his death” -Jimmy Chin
The chilling words of Jimmy Chin already has our palms sweating and heart racing. We will be anxiously anticipating the day we can watch Alex Honnold become the first climber to ever free solo El Capitan.
